Squirrels chew on electrical lines leading to fires and if left long enough can even weaken rafters due to their gnawing. Squirrel Prevention and Exclusion in Delaware
Trim limbs and trees 6 to 8 feet away from buildings to prevent squirrels from jumping on roofs. Other wall growing plants should be trimmed as well. Bird feeders should be modified to prevent foraging squirrels. Squirrels use a hole about the size of a baseball to enter. After squirrels have been removed, close openings with heavy duty 1/2 inch wire mesh, aluminum flashing or other suitable repairs.
